I am looking at starting a business in Yorkshire - a coffee shop and wine bar - I bought the Coffe shop business plan and want to know where you got the info "Research shows that there are 25,000 couples aged between 25-55 earning over £45,000 per year between them in the catchment area we are targeting." I want to include similar info but don't know where to get it

That can be the hardest part

For any area you can get how many people are in the local vacinity and normally some demographic info -- see your local government website

Then you need to break this down into the areas you are targeting

Also check out your competitors -- if there are large breweries (wine bars) then have a look at their annual accounts or any large employer in your area as they normally put some of this information about.

Keep in mind one thing that in retail sale business there are three very important points to note.
1. Location

2. Location

3. Location

Make sure that you give this factor your primary attention.

Try upyourstreet type sites for genereral info and get local demographic from local goverment, Chamer of commerce etc.

Of course the only way is to site yourself down and map every foot fall. enjoy!
