I am a freelance software designer based in the northeastern united states. I have developed a unique product that could reach millions of customers and also have a recurring effect with periodic software updates. This product is unique and gives the right investor the opportunity to carve his/her own path and be the first to capitalize on a market that is growing exponentially.

Background :

Instant Messenging clients are used worldwide now by approximately 270 million people. These customers include average everyday consumers as well as business and corporate networks. Media survey results have shown that a majority of internet users now use at least two different instant messenger services. It is considered an alternative to talking on the phone or writing email! Recent integration with mobile phones and PDA devices have secured Instant Messenging as an integral part of our day to day lives.

The near future of instant messenging is mergers. The top 4 largest companies are now splitting right down the middle. Aol’s AIM Messenger and Google’s Googletalk Messenger are joining forces. Also, Msn and Yahoo! Are joining their Messenger clients as well.

The Problem :

All different platforms have interoperability issues. In plain English, this means that they don’t talk to each other, forcing a normal user to have 2 or more clients running at once on their pc. This problem was solved by a third-party company called Cerulean Studios, which engineered a messenger called Trillian Instant Messenger. This software allows a user to connect to all networks at once, and use them together. Trillian is the largest 3rd party “Multi-Messenger” out there, and has a rabidly loyal user base. Trillian’s ability to interact with Aol, Msn, Yahoo, and Icq Messenger services has secured their spot as the face of what is to come. Most users regularly face the issue of communicating with others with different messengers. That is why Trillian’s user base is growing very fast, and is currently in the millions. Download.com’s latest statistic lists over 30 million downloads of the Trillian Messenger.

The Product :

Understanding that a Multi-Messenger client like Trillian is where the market is going, I have developed a product that interacts with the Trillian Messenger service and provides a number of benefits. This product could be marketed in a number of different ways, and could even be considered an add-on for current Trillian users.

One take on this could be parental monitoring. This software has the ability to convert all trillian based chat logs into a pleasant, readable form, with support for over 100 emoticons! It also shows in-depth statistics on each session, displays each user’s picture, allows you to save them in easy to read html format (for viewing anywhere) and has the ability to change the program’s internal options on the fly. It can do all this without opening the software at all!

For instance, lets say you are using this software to monitor your child’s activity on the internet, to keep them safe from predatory activity. This software allows you to track and view all chat conversations, each user’s picture, files that have been sent over the client, the length of time they have been in contact, the first and last time they were in contact, and each conversation can automatically be dated and saved as an html file

You can go into the options and actually disable certain messenger clients. For instance, lets say you know your child has been using Yahoo for “cyber-bullying”. You can simply go into the options screen and disable the Yahoo client from working within Trillian.

You can automatically retrieve all images or files downloaded through chat sessions, also view all alternate images for each user, and even view images of users not currently on their friend list.

One of the add-on products that can either be bundled with it, or sold as an add-on is an auditing feature. It allows you to set up a portable Usb drive or memory stick to be used as an auditing device, simply inserting the device in a pc’s usb port will instantly extract all log files and also passwords from the target machine. This would also come in handy for spot auditing on larger networks that use the Trillian messenger.

Another benefit of this software is that it does not require installation and can be installed on a usb drive or similar removable device. This allows portability and would allow quick and easy auditing of individual chatlog history or passwords.

The software has been designed to be low on system resources and fast for the end-user.
This product has yet to be exploited, and with Trillian being the number one choice for 3rd party messenger clients, it has unlimited potential for growth.

I am currently looking for an investor to either buy this product from me, or to work cooperatively to market the product effectively.
