Accountant charges

One fo the companies I have introduced DIY accounting to, has submitted their accounts to an accounting firm to file tax return and report to companies house. The charges comes to £2570.
In 2007/08 this was still a self employed business, and the accounting firm did all the accounts for the on Sage. All they did was sending in invoice, bank statements etc to the accounting office, who took care of the rest. The charges was then came to £2950 for the year.
Does this make sense? considering the accounting firm did not even carry out a full audit etc.
In your humble opinion what would be a fair charge for this, or can the directors file this themselves considering your DIY package is the most complete one around.
Thanks

Size of accountants fees is subject to work done so difficult to comment. £2570 appears ridiculous as yes the directors can file this themselves
When I reviewed accounts using the packages I rarely charged more than
300 - 500. not a service we offer now as too busy,

Comments from other users would be useful

My accountant charges me £500, and that includes some other services apart from filing the accounts.
