Ive used the DIY Ltd co set of accounts before, but this is the first time ive had to file them online, and im slightly lost on how to do it, i would like to be able to do the accounts on the software and press send but its not going to be that easy! So why do they have a download and what is it for? and cant you just attach the set of accounts without having to download the forms?

Can anyone help me, i would be so grateful.

Many thanks

In the past many of our customers (and ourselves) have completed the paper CT600 using data from DIY Accounting's look a like CT600 and submitted the statutory documents (Balance Sheet etc..) generated by DIY Accounting. These days things are moving online for both HMRC and Companies House. If you use HMRC's online filing software all the documents will be generated for both HMRC and Companies House and submitted electronically. This process includes some additional validation and all the templates are fixed so there is less risk of your accounts being rejected. We have a file (CT600OnlineLookALike.xls) which extracts all the information required to file online from DIY Accounting then presents it in in the same format as HMRC's on-line filing software to make the form's much easier to complete. This file is included with our Limited Company Package

To use it:
  1. Open Financialaccounts.xls
  2. Open CT600OnlineLookALike.xls
  3. Excel usually discovers the files once they are opened, if not, use the Edit links feature to update the values.
  4. Check the health check indicators D4 & D5 at the top correcting your accounts to ensure they balance without error.
  5. If necessary, compensate for rounding errors in cell D3. (see rows 1178-1223 for details). Usually not more than +1 or –1 is needed.**
  6. Save CT600OnlineLookALike.xls
  7. Open HMRC’s online filing PDF
  8. As you complete the return copy values from CT600OnlineLookALike.xls

**On a fresh set of accounts the default companysecretary.xls has the 2 shares with a nominal value of £1 each. These show up as a rounding error of £2. This will be the case until the company secretary and bank reconciliation sheets are completed with the correct shareholders funds use to form the company.

The things to check when preparing your accounts (before filing) are:
  • All the bank sheets reconcile with the statements
  • The fixed assets reconcile with entries in sales and purchases (Fixed Assets FAreconciliation)
  • All the debtors and creditors are listed in Closing Creditors (purchases) and Closing Debtors (sales)
  • The Trail Balance has no errors (Financial Accounts row 91)
  • The Balance Sheet balances “Net Assets” and “Shareholders” funds match.

Hi,

I need to submit the ct600 online for year ending 3rd Aug 2010, and am looking at my DIYA accounts for that period. I don't appear to have the ct600 supporting spreadsheet which helps convert the CT600 short form to the online version.
Any help much appreciated as to how to go about this.
Also should I by filing accounts at the same time? or do this separately what is the recommended approach.

thanks Steve

Hello,

Email us at terrycartwright@hotmail.com from the account that matches the one you use for PayPal (or forward the PayPal receipt) and we'll sent the file with instructions on how to add it.

We'll also need to same version you of the package downloaded. Select one of the spreadsheet files, right click, properties then tell us the file type, it will be one of (.xls, xlsx, .ods).

I'll join this thread to one with the instructions in. There are some preparation steps you can start on to ensure your accounts 'balance' before you start.

Thanks,

Antony.

Hi,

The hmrc online ct600 form, asks if i will be filing accounts alongside is this the recommended approach, I'm not too sure what the other options are?
Previously I posted the accounts to hmrc with no problems but I believe this option is no longer allowed?

thanks once again for your excellent support

Steve

Hello,

Do you mean these questions at the start:

Quote:
Do you want to use the Accounts service?
Was the company trading in the period being reported?
Do you want to use this service to submit to Companies House?
Do you want to submit Abbreviated Accounts to Companies House?
Is the turnover in the period being reported under £6.5 million?
Is the total of the balance sheet in the period being reported under £3.26 million?
To use the look-a-like (or indeed the limited company package) The answers would typically be yes.

Thanks,

Antony.

Question
Hi
I'm trying to submit my company accounts to CH using their software template provided. Under NOTES to accounts they ask about the Accounting Policy and whether they have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard for smaller entities effective June 2002 OR January 2005 OR January 2007.
Which of these dates do I use??
Thanks
Graham

Hello,

If you use HMRC's online filing PDF it will submit to Companies House too albeit with a slightly different option:
Quote:
These accounts have been prepared in accordance with the provisions applicable to companies subject to the small companies regime and in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entities (effective 2008).
As you'll need to file with HMRC too anyway I'd suggest using HMRC's PDF. If you are set on filing separately pick the 2007 for closest consistency with the HMRC submission. I'm not certain but I think one date is the date an act was passed and the other is the date it came into effect.

Thanks,

Antony.

Hello,

I am copying the values from the CT600OnlineLookAlike.xlsx sheet into the CT600 PDF and have noticed that values from the previous year aren't included in the spreadsheet (for example in the profit and loss section). I have checked that the links are Ok and the correct links shows in the formula bar but no values are displayed (the values are there in the Financialaccounts.xlsx file.

It's not a major problem as I can just copy the values from Financialaccounts.xlsx but I thought I would mention it.

Hello,

Have you populated the start and end dates in cells H68 and H72?

We do really need to add more (some) detail to the user guide for this file.

Thanks,

Antony.
