1. I like to zip up the folder containing the files and email them to yourself which leaves a backup copy in my email account.

3. You can wait for the confirmation email and access the links from there via your desk top.
If you wanted to use your netbook instead, could could install OpenOffice on there for free. Just be careful not to make changes to the same files using 2 different computers as it's a painful manual process to re-synchronise everything.
