I have just started using the accounting package and it is good. I am getting an accoutant to check before making my submisisons at present as i did leave till too late to work it all out myself, learn accounting and the software in a week though

Part of the reason I wanted to use the software was that I was tired of signing returns each year which i never understood as well as rather too large fees. Besides i felt as a business owner it would be beneficial to learn how accounting/tax works better

Problems i was having, mainly with understanding last years account enough to transfer opening ballances to diy accounting , finding my calcs were wrong ( my error i know not the software) and not understanding enough to see where i had gone wrong on the ct600

It does occur to me that doing Ct600s with this software is not realy rocket science and with this i could learn to do it by next year much better and it would be very useful to learn enough to do all myself if i choose .

I wonder whether one of the accountants or perhaps the software owners might consider running some one or two day training courses perhaps?.

Id imagine many people woudl be willing to pay a couple of hundred pounds to do a boot camp intensive course like this covering how to use software and applying it with a better knowledge of accounting. I dont think it needs a computer for all the trainees, and if it did most people have a lap top or coud borrwo one for a day so coudl be run quite economically

Ild imagine it mightnt be hard to get courses of up to 20 people at a time and might be profitable to whoever ran them and been blooming usefull for customers to be able to go on such a course. Im certain that with a one or two day course on how to do your own accounts most people could do it

Any accountants interested in running such courses eh ?

An interesting suggestion... we (DIY Accounting) could quite easily set up a workshop where we run through a couple of simple buisness and answer questions.

At the moment we are stabilising the current product's support after the founder's passing but this is something we could do if enough people express an interest.

In the short term post any questions you have to this forum.
