For a forum that has over 19,000 members it has to be the slowest forum I am a member of, everytime I come back here there are only 1 or 2 new threads. For example, today out of those 19k members there are only 2 logged in, and I am one.

Some of the posts are spam which the mods don't pick up on, such as this guy who has been spamming many forums with his rubbish...

http://forums.teneric.co.uk/search.php?searchid=363344

Why are his posts still live?

There are lots of other business forums with 75% less members but with a much better community than here and I was just wondering what the owners think?

What are you doing to promote the forum and make it a place worth contributing to?

I know I have not made many discussion starting threads myself and that is what you need, however, if the place feels like a ghost town then there is no incentive to do so.

I'm not having a go, I am just interested as to why it isn't doing as well as the others? (or maybe you think it is?) In my opinion it really should be.

If you have given up and ever want to sell then I may be interested in turning it around.

I was just thinking exactly the same thing!

I think this could be a great forum but just needs a push...and lively chatter

I am no expert. Damon would be better to ask but just a few thoughts:

Maybe try to get some regular people on starting up some interesting discussions. Have you got a twitter feed for the forum? I personally don't like getting tweets from forums but I expect it does create traffic and generate interest.

How many moderators have you got? Make sure you have enough, to cope with deleting spam posts etc etc.

Alongside changes maybe let all the registered users know so you can get them all back and chatting on the board. Send out an email, if you can? If they pop back and see new threads each time they are more likely to bookmark and pop back. Bit of a vicious circle..

Lots of other things I expect you could do and I'm sure you'll get other sugestions from more experienced forum peeps

I think the fact the 'new posts' button only lists the new posts made in the last 24 hours - most forums seem to list new posts since last visit - which can make it seem slower or quieter than it actually is.
