Directories are not a good way to promote a website. But if you want to go down this route then consider yell.com as a starting point.

okk. Its too hard to find only the uk based web directories on google. Thats why I sked from everyone.

I would like to popular my web site link on the web. So I need to submit my web site on search engines and directories as well.

I would like to exchange my link with the finance related web sites.

So, If anyone can provide me a list of urls UK based search engines or a direcotoruy list, I am really appriciate it.

Thanks

Shaun,

There are loads of promotional tools that work better than a directory. Number 1 is to produce a site that people will want to visit. This is the top tip given by google.

The second thing to do is tell people about the site - flyers, adverts, business cards etc all work well. Become known as the font of all knowledge for your particular niche, use forums and blogs to make yourself know. Write articles. Set up a newsetter. Write a column in your local paper. Get onto the local radia station.

Embark on a link building strategy. This takes a long time and you will have to do a lot of work to get noticed but the rewards can be huge - a single inbound link from a popular site can boost your ranking by a massive amount.

You can of course just apply for listing in as many free directories as you can but if the directory will list anyone without moderation then the value of that link is almost zero.

Apex,

In my last post I stated that you need to have a site that people will want to visit. In your case, this means an awful lot more work on the content - there is almost nothing of value and the search engines will just pass you by leaving you way down the ranking list. You can do as much online promotion as you like but it is not going to help you in the slightest until the site has something to offer.

PS: Go get your money back from accura-tech, the site is littered with problems that are going to hinder you from acheiving a good ranking.

i think yell.com is the worst place to promote a website. i have never seen any yell listings appear in search engines ( personally) and consider that people will only use yell.com if they know about it in advance and its not something that you could stumble upon easily after putting in a search terms like 'plumber - london' etc

(the google local business listings that come up - are supplied by yell.com - but you can submit for free direct to google and also a free listing in yellow pages would have the same effect)

Agree that yell doesn't do well in the ranking but it provides a high quality inbound link - which is all google wants. DMOZ used to be the place to be listed but it is now well out of favour.

i would even disagree that yell gives any value for an inbound link.

i think that yell com stops any sort of crawling or caching of their site by search engines - hence why they dont appear in listings.
