If you are present in the UK for 183 days or more in a given tax year that makes you resident for that tax year and as such liable to UK income tax on your UK and overseas income. Non-residents are liable to UK income tax only on income arising in the UK.
As to whether you’re permitted to work in the UK this is certainly not my area of expertise and it’s probably worth you speaking to an immigration expert about this. But one way or another it looks to me as if you’re going to have to pay tax on your earnings.

You need to apply for a National Insurance number through your local Jobcentre Plus office, Jobcentre or social security office – not the council. Details can be found
