Hi,
We are a small to medium sized online web store. The problem we have is tha tour current business bank Barclays are being like every other bank in the UK and doing the good old british banking way of giving money to a business when they dont need it and running when they do!
We have this problem that my husband who is a national accounts manager wants to leave his job and work for the company as his skills and expertise will turn our business into a multi million pound turnover site.
Our bank will only give us a poultry £5000 over draft which to us in business is pathetic! A single mum with 3 kids who doesnt work can get a credit card with that on!
We are looking for unsecured finance of £25000 to kick this business into first gear where it should be!
Any GENUINE help?
Many thanks

The Small Firms Loan Guarantee Scheme may be one option but it's only available through the the banks.
The bank's attitude will often depend on how much you are putting in yourselves as they will often match your own investment.

Hi Ian,
Thanks for your reply. We have put in about £20000 of our own money we dont owe our creditors anything, all our stock is bought and paid for. We are looking for about £15-20k to put our site in the top 3 where it deserves to be.
We have one of the UK's top optimizers working on our site, and we are slowly building our search credibility. We have a google rating of 3 which is excellent for only 5 months trading, and we are not being trapped into get to the top of the google search engine if you pay us x amount because we know that these schemes are c*ap.
With my experience and skills, i can get this business nationally recognized and give it the promotional backing it needs.
Mnay thanks

with £15/ £20k you should be able to do anything
give it to me and I'll get the ranks - seo is not that hard
and a PR of 3 - is not so good if you have one the UKs best SEOs
PR6 is easy to get (not that is means anything)
and you can get plenty of traffic from MSN and Y! to make a living and those are easy to get #1 positions for in a matter of days....

If i gave 15-20k to an SEO i would be mad! I also disagree about page ranking although it does mean nothing, 3 is a good rank.
Wanadoo home page only has a rank of 7!
And yes we are already hitting top with MSN and Yahoo.
The money we need is not for SEO it is for outside marketing and promotion.

OK, I see, I misunderstood your first post....
the page rank is not linear however, its logarithmic
so, PR8 is not simply twice better than PR4 - it's probably thousands better
PR3 is not a good rank BTW - PR5 is easy and simply to get...
good luck and let us know how you get on

My guess is that few bankers are particularly interested in funding a sex-oriented business of any sort (until you are extremely wealthy, at least).
You certainly need to do more work with your META keys. I went over to one of the finest established US erotic-items site, & found:
<meta name="keywords" content="erotic, erotica, sex books, sex videos, sex magazines, sex toys, sex comics, sex art, sex supplies, condoms, dental dams, dildos, gay, lesbian, homosexual, queer, bisexual">
as compared to your somewhat minimalist
<meta name="keywords" content="adult sex shop, adult sex toys, sex toy shopping, adult shop, vibrators, dildos, midnightvibe">
The first example is sparse as well -- since they resell more than a few items that feature certain popular trade-names, I'd put those in as well -- but it doesn't seem to damage their trade.
You need to optimise the tools you have to hand, before throwing more cash at it.
Placement means nothing if nobody's buying -- if sales are fine, your placement could be at basement-floor levels.
This sort of trade makes much more from repeat clients than one-time sales. It's unlikely that you could add to margins by throwing more cash at those repeat clients.
Assuming that your banker isn't mearly prissy, a loan that size generally requires thorough business documentation before you can even get a meeting. How many pages in length is your typed business plan, right this second?

I dont really think people on this site understand our business that well and how we are structured. Our business plan is about 7 pages long. Any business who has not got a business plan should not be trading!
You are also very wrong about first time sales.
Anyway thankyou for all your comments. Since joining we have now found the funding needed.

Excellent! It'll be good of you to actually share that with us.

(Which is another way of wondering why you withheld data important to the conversation & then held everyone else responsible for it.)

Try getting unsecured loans, there are many online sites available. Try them out.
Anyways your business plans seems to be very effective, it will help you out.
