Reading this thread, may I ask,
A. How long had your wife been employed & recieving training?
B. Why did your wife decide to terminate her contract?
I only ask, because it's my belief training expenses are always written into the small print of an employers contract, ie, to be repaid @ a % of monthly income, with forfiets for early break in contract etc. Also may we ask, has you wife obtained her qualification? Should this be the case she will now be able to secure a more highly paid position, which in it's self will off set the cost of training. Small print often catches us all out, but it vital to any contract. Personally if I could change anything, I'd change "Small Print" & made it "LARGE PRINT" so everyone becomes aware of just what they are getting into.

My wife started her employment at the end of 2005. She has just completed her NVQ level 2.

She is now working for a charity that looks after the elderly and has taken a wage cut in return for a guaranteed monthly salary, paid holiday, no more weekend or bank holiday work, mileage allowance etc etc. The NVQ unfortunately is not relevant in her current position.

I have checked all the documents they sent my wife which i have always kept and there is nothing in any size print. This is the first time this small company has put its employees through NVQ training and this is becase their hand is being forced because of impending regulation in that industry. I honestly believe its because the director is the type of director that likes to cut corners and do it on the cheap!

One of the reasons she left was there was no annual salary review. They were all told its because they "chose" to undertake the NVQ training most of which is government funded!! Nice way to treat you most valuable assets!
