UK commercial mortgages - 07-06-2008, 08:56 AM

The mortgage loan market is quite huge in UK what with more than 200 different financial organizations supplying mortgage loans to people. Well, I find that the main reason of their popularity is mainly due to the trust shown by the people who are in need of money. Even I have taken mortgage loan twice to overcome some financial problems. But, at times one might get confused in selecting a loan provider, as the market is full of them. In fact, there is a neck-to-neck competition amongst them.
However, what I suggest that it is better to take help from a reputed commercial mortgage price comparison company to know which lender is the best one.
Any further suggestion or advice on mortgage?

I agree that a reputable mortgage broker is the way to go but I don't think that way to find one is to spam forums which is why I've deleted the link from your post

I have recently been looking for a buy to let mortgage to replace my fixed rate mortgage running out this month. I did some investigation myself with the big supermarkets/comparison sites, but came up with nothing. I asked my financial advisor to look into it for me and the variety of different lenders he had access to was much higher than the comparision sites and he was able to try out different combinations quickly and easily. I will use comparison sites to check trends, but for actual mortgage arranging a mortgage advisor is best.

Unfortunately software is also gaining a big hold in my business with one very large company operating quite a few price comparison sites for factoring quotes and many people are just going with the lowest quote irrespective of whether the factoring company will provide a decent service or not and in many cases the one with the lowest quote provides the poorest service and the overall cost ends up more.

I don't think of people like this as brokers anyway as they are more like lead generators

Most brokers have access to deals the general public never see.

If you know a good broker I would always recommend going that way.

If you don't know a broker be careful on the deals they offer you and make sure the terms are good for you.

In my experience, comparison sites are essentially lead generators anyway, they either have specific deals set up with lenders or they simply sell the leads on, i have been appraoched by several comparison sites with offers of leads. What annoys me is that the general public are being misled, because these sites are purely commercial enterprises offering so called unbiased information, when in fact they sell leads to the highest bidders.

To the originator of this thread, secured borrowing (be it commercial, or personal) should always be used as a very last resort to raise funds (I am not talking about normal mortgages and remortgages). This is the biggest issue I have with all the web based comparison sites. They assume that the customer knows (and no disrespect intended) most people only know what they heard of. They are not aware what other options are available to them.

Hi found the post on google and have registered today, a good mortgage broker will save you 1000's over the life time of a mortgage. Nice to see you removed the spammy link.
