Where to look for an investor -
10-09-2006, 11:53 PM
I have recently started what will become a very successful business. I am in talks with a large company in the UK who accepted my first quote and asked me to produce a second quote based on a larger area of the UK.
I awaiting a decision tomorrow. If accepted this will generate a minimum of £6,000 and a maximum of £8,200 per month with the possibility of taking on more areas in the UK very quickly for roughly the same amount. To start this first contract I need roughly £2,000 for the first months expenses as this will be on 30 day payment terms. Dont worry i'm not asking for £2,000 as I already have this set aside. If I am asked to take on more areas which is possible very soon I would need this amount per area for the first month and Im looking at around 10 areas in total with an initial lay out of £20,000. Other than the bank is there somewhere I could look for an investor? or indeed is there someone who uses this forum that may be interested? this will be a 5 year contract if accepted. |

Try looking into Angel investors. Here is a link to Angel Investors in Wikipedia to give you more info.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel_investors Here are a couple of additional links to angel investing that you might want to check out: Venture Worthy Funding Post Inc.com Hope this is helpful. I know a lot of people who have used Angel Investors and have been very pleased. Though not everyone can get funding, if they like your business plan, you never know. |

There's a pretty useful search tool called SchemeFinder at www.i10.org.uk/services/research
You can search by your business profile and the responses it brings up are the agencies and schemes which might be able to help with funding etc. |

A few years back I wrote a small book on financing startups in South Africa that might help jpbcouriers. It's about 30 pages, and in a weird HTML format, but it outlines how I managed to find 40,000 pounds (where is that pound sign on this SA keyboard?) to finance a business without using overdrafts.
It has a South African flavour, but the same techniques should work here as well - although your banks are kittens compared to the costs that SA banks get away with. (Most expensive banking in the world. My average cheque acount bill (no overdraft) was about 80 pounds/month.) Anyway, given the scope and flow of the challenge in this thread - it should be able to add some value, and stretch your current resources a lot further. Please read the entire thing, however, before fighting with me. No affiliate sale included. (If you're not South African you won't click on any of the links to local banks.) It's at http://www.petesweekly.com/link_se_7_21.htm Peter, feel free to remove the link if you feel it inappropriate. I bvelieve it adds value, but not too sure about the protocal. |
