Re: New Company Hoping to franchise it. -

I think you might struggle to successfully start a business and franchise it whilst still at uni. First, you need to start the business in one area of the country - create a protype. You would then need to write systems manuals, based on that prototype.
Next you would need to recruit suitable franchisees and provide training. This could be costly, to do it right, and would almost certainly eat up all your initial fees. You would then charge a royalty to each franchisee - say 10%, but if you didn't recruit the right people to begin with, you could be getting 10% of very little. You are correct, you could grow a business very quickly by franchising it, but you definitely need that prototype and a perfect system in place first. |

Good idea - that will give you plenty of time to do some planning and research. There would be no harm in starting up something part time while you are at uni though. It would bring in some extra cash, and u could build it up a bit before u went full time.

I'm not into the lottery - it takes away peoples motivation, but I know many people love it - my accountant included. I've checked out your blog and it looks great. How long have you had it? Do you get much traffic? Do you make much in affiliate commission?
Have you checked out www.problogger.net yet? He apparently makes six figures from blogging, and gives some great advice to those wanting to do the same. |

Hi thanks for the reply.
Firstly (i gonna get shot down for this!!) I dont think the lottery does take away motivation, you are either motivated or you arent. End of the day the lottery is what it is, a very very very slim chance to get rich for little effort, and a slight risk. Take me for an example, a student at uni (and it pisses me off when people lable me as lazy for being a student) i do a full time degree course, have a job, run two different mlm/affiliate schemes, have websites with run google adverts on, and have 2-3 ideas for business. If i wasnt motivated I would never do all that, i would sit in the house watching good morning, (sterotyping) and if i did win the lottery say the big euro millions rollover of £125 million, believe it or not, I would be even more motivated, cos then I would have money to play with, more challenges. Sorry rambled on a bit there, motivation, you got it or you dont. Secondly the part about what i make from elottery I wont put on here hope you dont mind, the reason for that is, with all refferal affiliate schemes, i am looking to recruit new affiliates, this means it would be very easy for me to change a post from asking for help to spamming a forum for affiliates. Lots of people do this, but not me, I would much rather build a good reputation as someone who has ethics and comes on forums to learn and share, as opposed to someone who pops on to do an advert for his/her scheme, and then vanishes again. I make a decent amount for me, but then whats decent for me may not be for you, and what i earn dont indicate what anyone else would earn some more some less, dependent upon effort put it. I only joined to play for free, so its all good. I can tell you more by pm if you want, but you need to pm me first. (again i dont want to spam) The blog not long I think just over a month now, it does get traffic, espically when people do a search for say euro millions results, which is great because thats what I want. It also gets me new affiliates which is nice. Google found it and unfounded, and seems to have just found it again. But yes the traffic is building, as with all things it takes time and effort. I have seen the blog you mentioned before, and yes its a great idea, and I have thought about setting up another bog on a different domain as an experiment to see if this is possible, but again time constraints, and pressures of final year at uni, something I may play with over xmas. Will let you all know if i decide to do it, will be interesting. Anyway glad you liked the layout of my little blog, and I hope my rant on motivation didnt offend you, I am one of those people who is very passionate about what he talks about and do blab on (you see doing it again)Lol Thats me for this post. |

Hey - not offended at all. Most of my friends disagree with my views on lottery and motivation too. You know, until I read your blog, I didn't even know u could get tickets on line, so I may have a go at it. The ticket queues are way too long in our local Tesco.
You do seem very motivated, but I'm glad that you're not going to be a franchisor until you leave uni, as it would be much more than a full time job. If you do decide to do it later on, drop me an email - I know a couple of people who have experience in franchising a business, and I'm sure they would be happy to give you free advice, as they've done it for others. I'll check wordtracker for you, and see if I can find you some more good keywords for your blog, and pm you with the results later. Hopefully there will be some with a bit less competition, and u will be able to get further up Google with them. |

if you can find me some more key words that would be great.
If you decide to give it a go, go to the blog, and do the affiliate option cost you another £5 per year, but then I can help you play for free. So you wont be losing out. Pm or email me if you join, so I know who you are. The blog I have put a lot of small articles on there, but think I will stop doing this and make it more like a proper blog, the articles help get it more, contents, and help increase the amount of times certain key words are on the site. Hmm. |
