Advanced selling techniques, should I teach them? -
23-08-2007, 02:16 PM
Hello peeps
I want to get people's feedback on a course I am putting together called "advanced selling techniques". I have spoken to a few people about the moral implications of sharing such powerful technologies. I am just about to qualify as a hypnotherapist and I am also studying for my NLP Master Practitioner certificate and I have explored the use of both hypnosis and NLP in business and how it is currently used on us and how anyone can use it in a selling environment. When I talk to people about hypnosis they often think I am going to put them under some kind of mysterious spell where I can control their mind, in reality you are hypnotised several times a day such as when you are watching TV, listening to music or driving your car. What I want to teach people is a special form of NLP and hypnosis that allows the salesperson to ask better questions of the customer, so they can get a deeper understanding of what they want to buy and why. When you know these things you can move that person into a positive buying decision and make them feel great about the purchase. So please let me know your thoughts on this issue. I plan to teach people how to use these skills in an ethical way, to make it a better experience for the customer and to make selling easier. I may also help sales people get over their issues about approaching customers as many people are quite scared about this. Thanks Matt |

Hi Matt,
I used to work for an NLP Master Practitioner and hypnotherapist. He did his training with Richard Bandler and John Lavalle and to watch him at work was quite an experience. He also co-wrote a Guerrilla Marketing book with Jay Levinson (The Guerrilla Marketing Revolution) Worth a look. Our company at the time provided the sort of training you're speaking about and was very, very successful. Our USP at that time was that we 'trained the trainers'. There weren't too many companies doing that at the time. I'd go for it if I were you. Good luck. |

This sounds a brilliant idea. Like many people in a sales environment I feel that I am unable to project myself to my full potential. I'm not too bad "face to face" but I admit that I'm terrible on the phone! I have always thought that if somebody could sort this out subconsciously it might unlock something and stop me being a nervous wreck and more approachable.
Am I missing the point here, or is this something that you are able to offer? |

Hey guys
Thanks for the replies and it is great that people are interested in this. I just want to make it clear to you all that I do not have the courses booked nor the material prepared, so I am not able to offer places out as of yet. What we will focus on if the “state” of the sales person and also how to gain deep report with their customs. This is done by self control and also by asking the right questions and mirroring what the customer is doing. You will find out what type of customer they are and already have a plan on where they are and how to get them to a certain point i.e. buying decision without seeming like you are influencing them at all, more like a consultant. I really believe in high quality customer service and the better you get at NLP and covert hypnosis, the better the quality of the service you are able to offer to the customer. I always back up what I say, for example I now have 140 customer testimonials on my website. I managed to get such a high amount by really offering a great service through NLP and understanding what the customer wants. Unlike a lot of other trainers, I actually run companies myself and I can back up everything I teach. Yes there are a lot of great talkers and speakers out there but many “consultants” only run companies in their heads or haven’t done so for a long time. All of our courses are going to be aimed at business owners and how to improve themselves and their business. The answer the other question, yes this type of stuff can be used over the phone and I will cover all of that too. Sometimes it is even easier as you are able to make notes as you go! Tony Robbins is fine if you want to walk on coals. Yes a lot of symbolism and adrenalin, but not much practical application. He tells you what you want to hear much like the film “The Secret”. If you want to believe that all you have do in life is write down your goals and hide them away in a box and everything will magically come true, then be my guest. However I believe that there is a lot more work involved and you need a structure in life to attain your goals. I have found that there are two types of people in the world in terms of achieving goals. These are those people who buy into the fantasy and buy some crazy “MDF and Velcro” contraption off late night TV and thinks that when it arrives they will magically get fit and their lives will be brilliant, and there is the other type who studies exercise, nutrition and learns from professionals and sets goals and records their progress. I am the latter and this is what my training courses will be about. I will keep you all posted and please offer me more feedback. Tell me what problems you face in your business life, and I will be able to address them for you. Believe me, the more personal you think a problem is, the more universal it is! Matt |
