Lightbulb The All-New Windows... - 17-04-2006, 10:25 PM

I dont know how many people have heard about Microsoft Windows Vista - the new OS from Microsoft - but i have been told it's supposed to be the ultimate enchanced system.

As i cannt afford to upgrade at the moment, i have obtained the transformation program which makes your windows xp into windows vista (dont know how to descibe it...its not an upgrade, and not a theme).

What are your veiws on this? Is Vista worth the money, or is it just an XP with a face lift?

Wait at least 12months after it is released before even thinking of moving over to it !

XP has still a lot of life left in it.

You will have to pay more than just the software fee - unless you already own a very good / fast PC then you will probably have to upgrade that to before you can enjoy the full benefit of Vista...
The next version of MS Office is very similar too - it is very system hungry and the slower machines will suffer a serious performance lag.

And as for Vista being the "ultimate enhanced system." - it's actually going to be very disappointing when it's released... most of the really good stuff has been shelved by MS and will not make it into the release version (the new file system for one)

do you think i should run the program to convert? As i said, its not an upgrade, but not a theme...i dont know what it is!

Also had a look at what microsoft had to say about it http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/default.aspx and it actualy looks pretty promising....or is it again just a mask...like windows millenium was to 98?

I have the program that will do this. Here is what it contains :

Vista Inspirat Brico Pack 1.1
UXTheme Multi-Patcher (Neowin Edition) 4.0
4 Windows Vista visual styles
Windows Vista wallpaper
Windows Vista fonts
