AVG here also - upgraded to "pro" or whatever the upgrade is called

Haven't had any problems since installation, although a full scan takes about 3 hours on my aging Dell laptop ....

I also use AVG Free Edition - not for business use though. I wouldn't touch McAfee or Norton after my own and friend's experiences. But on the cost side of things I believe AVG still works out as a cheap alternative if you upgrade to the Professional version.

I appreciate this is too late but just to add to the alternatives; I use eset NOD 32. It seems to have a low overhead, I have had no virus etc problems in 2 years. certailny cheaper than the retail products and their help desk is good too.

I guess I am the only one that uses a mix of things. I do have AVG (not personal) installed, still keep Lavasoft around when needed and also the others like HiJack, and S.A.F.E.

AVG Free is indeed only for personal use, and it should be remembered that it is Anti-Virus only.

The one we distribute is 'AVG Internet Security', which handles all aspects of Internet Security.

We have a post about the new version 8.0 on our blog at http://comspeccomputers.co.uk/blog/2...et_security_8/ giving a review and pricing details. It can be downloaded directly, or a retail package provided.

Norton imho hogs too many resources, and McAfee is not much better. To get the free trial of Norton off your machine, or one which has run out of date, you will need to download and run the 'Norton Removal Tool' which we have a post about too (the same blog).

NOD32 is another excellent piece of software, and it uses little on the resource front too.
