Deeds and Signatures -

A piece of land purchased in the late seventies jointly by myself and partner. The deeds for the land were left with a solicitor. I have since learned that my partner got the deeds from the solicitor, 10 yrs. Ago without my knowledge or signature. Is this legal in the UK?
