help with lease -

Hello,
Just wondering if anyone can help me please.
I signed a lease for five years, four years ago with company A when i set up my business. This company does not own the building anymore and i have not signed any new lease with company b. i was struggling with paying my rent and company b have since sent in the bailiffs and as a result i have ceased trading. i therefore sent back the keys and have not had any access to the premesis since i closed in june 08. i have now been told that i am still liable for the council tax on this property as i am still on the lease. however, i have been told by another person that as the lease i signed is not with company b that they are now liable for the council tax as i am no langer in the building. is there anyone out there that can help me as all i am getting is conflicting views on the subject.
