My tips on producing great business cards

I get asked all the time what to put on a business card, so here are a few tips.

Don’t just have a mobile number
People do not like calling mobile numbers of people they don’t know. Either have a land line or a message taking service to answer your calls.

Use the reverse
Loads of business cards are passed between friends and colleagues and so it is a good idea to use the reverse to either what it is you do, even if it is bullet points.

Don’t just have a big logo
Do not rely on your logo to make you money, it won’t! Use the space for text rather than a logo

Give people a reason to contact you
This can literally transform your business! If you offer to give either something away for free or a report etc, then your response rate from handing out business cards will sky rocket. For example if you are a nail technician, then make a free report available on the dangers of using cheap glue or un-resisted technicians etc. I am not advising you to scare monger, just simply inform people on a subject of interest.

Don’t print business cards at home
Would you turn up to a meeting in suit you made at home? Unless you are a fashion designer then I am guessing not. Always have business cards professionally made as they represent you and your business, a lot of the time when you aren’t even there!

Finally, answer the phone
If you are giving out your number, make sure you answer it. When I go networking I always contact people the following week. Astoundingly 3-6 people out of 10, don’t answer their phone and it either rings out or goes to answer phone.
