Hello everyone, just wanted to 'pop my head in' to say hello and to let those of you who know me know that I haven't disappeared altogether!
I have just been exceptionally busy as business seems to have gone through the roof, just at the same point in time as I have been heavily involved in getting a new trade association for Mobile DJs/KJs off the ground.
www.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk (a completely free and not-for-profit resource for DJs/KJs and anyone booking DJs/KJs) now contains not only a Directory showing those DJs who have produced copies of their Public Indemnity Insurance, and evidence that their equipment had been PAT tested (Portable Appliance Tested) with help and advice for anyone booking a mobile disco, but also the fastest growing trade association for the industry, the Mobile Disco Association (MDA).
This is something that I feel passionate about - standards within the industry need to be raised and the public/anyone booking entertainment need to be advised of the difference between booking reputable entertainment, and not just the cheapest, who will not be adhering to the law/adopting 'best practice'.
The MDA decided to create a level playing field - no-one need pay to advertise in the Directory, and there are no subsciption fees to join the Association - the criteria for a 'premium' listing and for joining the Association is operating a professional show, with the members themselves devoting their time and energy to make things happen.
We need to get the point across to everyone who books entertainment, and, now that you all know about it, I hope you will use the directory when any of you need a DJ/KJ, and pass the word on.
However, if anyone has any ideas as to how we can publicise the existence of the new Directory/Association, please let me know!
