We have tried to counter spammers here by requiring posts by new members to be approved for the first 24 hours and for persistant and repeat offenders to have their website addresses put into the swear filter and by barring their IP addreses. I hope that you see Teneric as a spam free forum.

I am also an admin on an unrelated forum which has 150 new members register every day. Spam was a huge problem there but we implemented a vbulletin hack that bars new members from registering if their IP address is in the spamhaus database and this cut down the number of Nigerian mobile phone vendors from a dozen a day to one per week.
