30 days and 15 posts. It's to put off the spammers and those whose only reason for posting is to link drop.

This is what I'm thinking as the reason also.

But I guess the OP's problem has already been resolved

On a related note - if I change my sig (because I'm bored or whatever! ) do all the old sigs change? If so, how does Google like that? For examle, if I now point to a newsite do allllll my posts point to it? That would be a shed-load of inbound links in one day which Google might take offence at....?

it's a risk indeed Like everything else though, it depends on your trust in Google.

Yes, all your previous post's will relect the new sig change - I wouldn't worry about Google though - it won't spider all 36,085 (at last count) posts at once...

Good point!

Assuming that, I wonder if it's not a good idea to change sigs occationally then make things different for Google - active stuff and all that.....?

Significant changes to the anchor text in links pointing to your site is not a good idea. By all means chane the anchor text if you are changing your anchor text, but leaving the link pointing to the same page with different anchor text sitewide is really not ideal.

In itself it is not a big deal, but if those links are making up a chunk of your theming, then it could hurt your rankings.
