there's still traffic to be attained by optimising pages about typo domains, rather than actually registering the typo domains

I don't have a problem with the concept.. I'm just wondering if it's worthwhile considering that (in theory) you could lose a domain at any time.

To me it's no different that you owning Gold.com and I buy Gold.co.uk
and likewise with plurals.. eg:you own ringtone.com and I own ringtones.com, both of which I consider acceptable.

you'd have to get quite a lot of traffic to a typo to make any money at all?

you'll be surprised how many people type in typos in their address bar then their default search engine pops up results pages on which you could be well placed.

any genuine traffic is profitable. if i had only 100 hits per year, and had a conversion rate of 5% due to well targeted ads, and i made £100 per sale, that's still half a grand each year

trojan masters other unethically-motivated webmasters could of course make a lot more than the average joe
