I use blogspot and although my factoring blog is of very limited interest I do it so that I don't get left behind.

Why do you want to blog?
It's not actually a daft question, it can take a lot of time and effort to write regular posts, research and check your information and maintain the archive. So unless you have a burning ambition to tell the all about the news from the world of massage then maybe articles would be a better way to go. It's the main reason I don't have my own blog - I just don't have the time.

It wont be a blog, it will be articles on how to choose a massage table etc and many other articles on relevant topics
But i thought I would still need to use a blog site? No?

Hi,
I blog on all my sites where I can. Blogspot is the easiest to set up but it's pretty unreliable and the are no "categories" at this time. When you set it up you will be able to choose "advanced setup", which will allow you to add the blog entries to your site, which personally I think's better than posting on a blogspot sub-domain. When you set it up be sure to switch comment moderation on otherwise you'll be flooded with spam.
If you're pretty net savvy and are running a Linux account with a MYSQL option, I'd really recommend Wordpress. Have a look in your CPanel options, you might have a one-click install there.
Cheers,
Ender.

Word Press is excellent - use it if you can but be prepared to spend a good deal of time setting it up to look the way you want.
But if you only want to write articles then just put each article on a seperate page and use 'server side includes' for navigation. If the thought of using server side includes fills you with dread then there have no fear, there are loads of tutorials on how to do it. Just search for 'php include tutorial' and chose the one that takes your fancy.
Note: make sure your host supports php, mysql and ssi before you start. You might not need all of them but it's worth seeing what's available.

I use a blog to do my personal interests on, although i link to my business directory, and i have had some reasonable clicks, from it, even though it is not related.

I think to get maximum exposure the best place to do it is to get your own website. The problem with using blogspot etc., is that if you are successful, you end up tied to the site.
What I suggest is getting a site on something like Hostway and paying a few quid a month for it. I also think Wordpress is the best blogging software, but I guess thats down to personal choice.
Good luck though

I think the main reason i use it, is probably because google does crawl it frequently and it has a rather big pr. I didn't even add my site to google, it was picked up through my blog.

I use blogspot for mine, just started it. It does take more time than you think.
With regard to being tied to them, isn't there an option to redirect to a different URL?
