How can I promote my site?

Hey guys,

Ive been working on a website for ages now and apart from couple of things on there, its pretty much completed.

My website is a video sharing website built for artists or any creative person that has a show reel. For instance, if you are an animator or director and would like to share your film to the world my website offers this services.

I have just offically launched it today and I need some feedbacks and some advice how I can promote it?

Since the video sharing market is already awash with youtube clones, what does your site have to make it stand out from the crowd?

Have you tried checking out the competition and then contacting all of the video uploaders and telling them to upload their videos on your site?

usually uploaders will email the link to all their friends to check out which would bring traffic to their site.

I have had over 10 million visitors to my sites over the past 5 years from using surf for traffic exchanges. Many people think traffic exchanges do not work. I think they do as I have made big money online and I only use traffic exchanges networking communities, forums and I write the odd article to promote my money making pages. I do a lot of work for companies in article marketing and niche blog promotion. They are both very effective in creating backlinks to your site and establishing you as an expert in your field. It is a cheap service and if done correctly, can be very effective.

Directories, blogs, forums and so on can all bring you direct traffic to your website if you add your link or add signature in forums etc etc.

But....adding links that point to your website also improves your search engine rankings and if you have used keywords correctly throughout your website and in your links then the traffic will keep increasing as you increase the amount of content on your website.

If you use in demand keywords but that are low in supply this will increase your traffic.

I would put some serious time to one side to start getting up to speed on SEO in 2009, avoid the older stuff as many forum tips you might find are pretty much worthless these days there are some very wise members of this and other forums on the subject who will be happy to point you in the right direction but the main thing will be to start researching asap.
