Re: Pay per clic with Adwords google-URGENT - 21-02-2007, 01:49 PM

Firstly, appearing at the top of the Adwords is not nesecarily the best place to be. A lot of people are 'habitual clickers' - meaning they will click the top result without thought.

Google order the Adwords based on 2 factors - the amount you are prepared to pay for each click and a mysterious 'quality score'. There is much debate about the quality score and whether it is genuine or simply a means for Google to make more money. In short if you have a have a higher click-through-rate that is a plus - unless people bounce back very quickly from your site - as that means that your 'landing page' is not what they were expecting.

The only way to find these things out is to trial it in a controlled manner.

The new quality score algo looks at the page on your site that your ad is going to

So, for example, if you have an ad about dogs and it goes to a page about aircraft, your quality score is 0

OK, you're not going to be that daft but your landing page must reflect what your ad says. You also need text and things like "contact us" "phone" or other related stuff so google knows the page it is sending its users to is useful

Dont up your cost per click. YET.

Play around with your landing page (and it can be a completely new page if you want)

Good adwords advice.

If you site is as you describe then your design concept is wrong. Builders and the like are busy people. They will likely bookmark your site and return when they need information. This means that the site needs to have the call to action right on the home page. Make sure right from the start they can make an enquiry.

And if it is for porfessional only then why do you have a big link for self-build?

And the information pages are still vital to boost your ranking. At the moment the pages have almost zero content for the spiders to index. And with no content you will languish way down the SERPs. Below the amatuer brick hobbyists.

The other question is, why do you need this site? Why don't you just add the service to you existing site?

There are still a whole host of other issues that your designers need to address. And my first question would be to ask: what is the purpose of the site?

I see that the website is unchanged from when you first asked for help. None of the SEO advice has been implemented and guess what, the site doesn't appear in the top 100 organic searches as a result.

(I know it's an old thread but I was looking at goshi's posts)
