Pay per clic with Adwords google-URGENT

Hi All

We are about to launch our new website, that have been designed is hosted by a specialised company. They did a good job, we asked for a quote for SEO and pay per click. They requested for each £1000 as a set up fee and then £150 per month.
I don`t know much about that field, so i have for the moment decided to go along with them for the SEO and try to do the pay per click ourselves by suscribing at Adwords with google.
Has anybody tried it before?
If yes, can you explain how did it work and the benefits that you got.
Also is there any other solution abot SEO, knowing that i won`t be able to do anything by myself.
Your help will be very appreciated!

Thanks

For some keywords it’s not worth doing. We're a web host and it’s very competitive, with very high click costs.

But for others, it is worth it.

I wouldn't bother with an SEO company because I know the ins and outs of doing it. But if you have no experience doing it yourself and don't want / can’t learn the trade, then you're only option is to pay someone else to do it.

Whatever you choose to do, make sure you have tracking on the links so you'll be able to tell when a conversion is made. I.e. a click to a sale. No point advertising and not knowing if it’s working

It`s a brick matching website that we are launching, and i had a look at keywords and we will probably use less than 10, the average price is between £0.25-£1.00.
Do you think i should suscribe with Google Adwords, is it worth it?
Thanks

goshi,

You can't bolt SEO onto the design - it should be built in right from the start. If the company is not telling you to pay extra for SEO work then I would question their design. Can we see the site?

Ask them for your money back. Seriously. I don't know what sort of contract you had but the design they have developed is pretty much invisible to the search engines.

As peter says, the search engines robots cannot (most of the time) index sites that use frames. If you run your home page through a spider simulator you will see a blank page. No content, no links, no keywords - nothing.

But supposing you do manage to convince a spider to index each page. They will see identical titles and main headers on each page. This means (as far as the spiders are concerned) each page is similar to the last and therefore will be placed in the 'supplemental pages' box.

The use of flash on the home page is also pretty much a waste of time since I can't enlage the images to see the examples.

The actual page content is also very weak. It tells me nothing about your service. On the self builder page for example I get a grammatical error and a list that gives me no indication of what you can do for me. What does 'Help with scheduling' mean?

I then did a search. What does 'water absorbtion range' mean? I want to build a garden wall - does the compressive strength matter? As the 'number 1 brick service' you need to help your customers - provide detailed explanations of all the specifications. Doing this will provide lots of keyword rich pages for the spiders to index.

And when I did find my brick there didn't seem the be any way to actually buy the things. I can send an enquiry but not buy bricks.

I also notice that the site is hosted by eazysecure.net - that's not going to do you any favours either.

You will not be able to do much SEO work with the current design. Anthing you do will be a waste of time until you get rid of the frames.

As to the pay-per-click, much easier to do it yourself. It takes a little while to get used to and set up the system but after that all you need to do is tweak it every now and then.

If your contract with them was for a nice looking website, that people could not buy from - you have done ok.

If it was to be a functional site that people could buy from, or a site that was ever going to appear in the search engines - you need your money back.

I suspect the company knew they were delivering a site that was not going to do well in the search engines, so that they could then charge you all over to do this work - work which could [should] have been included by default when they built the site.

btw - your 'real' home page is http://eazysecure.net/ehsmith.co.uk/ - not very good eh!!

On a positive - it's good to see the domain is actually registered in your own name.

With respect to Google Adwords - you can do this yourself. Read up about it, read the info on the Adwords site, make sure you can track the leads, be prepared to spend a decent chunk of money at the start - check your results.

Refine and repeat.

Eventually you will come to a level where you can get a decent ROI.

Thanks for your replies and advices.
The website hasn`t been released yet, and we are still having some changes done thats why it still runs under eazysecure.
The website aims mainly professionals(builders, architects, contractors...)so they know the definition of each word. The site is not for buying online but they send us their enquiries and we send them samples.

I will speak to the webdesigner regarding your comments for SEO, at least i know a bit more now

For the pay per click, i requested info from Google Adwords, and they told me that to be at the top of the ranking, we need to increase quality scores and the Cost per click, so does that mean that we need a good quality of website and to have the higher bid to get at the top?
Also the more keyword we have the better we have the chance to go up ?

Sorry for asking all these questions but i am not an expert in that field, so i really appreciate your help.
