Press releases and Pseudonym names -
12-03-2008, 03:55 PM
Hi there, I am soon to be releasing a number of press releases via the company i work for and i really need some views on the use of pseudonym names.
1) How important is it to have a pseudonym name? 2) How long does it take for a pseudonym name to gain authority? 3) Are there some areas when writing press releasese and articles that using a pseudonym name should be avoided? Does anyone know anything on this at all? all views greatly received. |

The thing to remember when sending out press releases is that it takes a while for journalists to recognise you as an authority and use your information. Journalists are very keen to write factual well sourced information and when it comes to press releases they like to know the source quite well.
So in that case i would not promote using a pseudonym. |

The company we distribute through use a pseudonym name on a selection of our press releases and we are mearly testing the water to see if using a name really can create some authority.

It will eventually become 'known' if you build up a number of really good well written press releases. It takes a while to build up a bit of trust with a journalist before they begin to use you as a reliable source. I'd be a bit careful though as most journalists like their information to come from a well researched source and wouldn't appreciate having the wool pulled over their eyes.
If you start from scratch, depending upon your angle you would be advised to send about three well written releases before expecting a great deal of coverage. Mind you, it depends on the story and your timing really. I have got some stories in first time to a new target on numerous occasions. |
