Hi, I've just got my online software and eBook store off the ground recently and was wondering how best I should go about getting my site a higher online profile.

I have listed on all the major search engines but visitors do seem to be limited at this time. I was wondering if anyone had tried pay-per-click advertising and how succesfull this medium is, as this method has been suggested as a viable form of web marketing.

Many thanks.

I am not sure. We did pay-per-click advertising a year ago. But it did not work as we expected. It did not worth money we paid for it.

PPC is a pretty good source of traffic and conversion if done right.

In order for it to be cost effective, it will depend on what you consider a good CPA.

Some PPC bids I have worked with in the past were $120 a click but it was still worth doing since a good CPA for me was $250 and my ROI was about 1000% on those.

Don't worry though, most PPC keyword bids are not that high. Most will range between 10 cents to $2 depending on the industry you are in.

Lots of it is trial and error and lots af analytical work to figure out when is the best time to put them up and what position during a certain time as well as title and description.

Its usually more effective if you have a good landing page to go along with each set of keywords.

If you have a big budget, you can always figure out the time where you get the click clicks with the least conversions and during that time, you run your bids up by a ridiculous amount.

If your competitor keeps a close eye on his bids, then he will outbid you keep outbiding him until he runs out of money.

Then when the ideal bidding time comes you get all of the good clicks at a bargain price.

Good luck

Hi,

some experiances I made:
- we tried 100000 page impressions with a social comunity and got 14 clicks --> costing was 120€

- than we tried adscale.de they are dealing restplaces of banner ads. I got 500000 page impressions for 200€ and got 21 clicks.

My final decision is now only to take cpc, cpl or cps.
Now I try affiliate networks.
The banner ads was completely lost money.

Regards,
Toptom

If you have a few notes to spare PPC is a good way to test if it would be worth carrying out organic SEO on a site.

It's hit and miss and there are a lot of variables that need to be considered, such as: How does your site carter for the kind of terms you are bidding on?

Ive used PPC on both facebook and adWords, I would reccomend PPC on facebook as click though ratios are quiet low making PPI (Pay Per Impressions) not stack-up. PPC also proved good with adWords accept you should do some research to see how much competition there is on Adwords.

You also need to calculate your average user value (how much on average you make from each user) and compare this to how much you spend aquiring that user, needless to say if the later is more then you will need to rethink your strategy for aquiring users

You must also take time to make the most of every site visitor, i would recommend either employing someone or learning yourself to monitor how your webste is performing using the range of webmaster and analytics tools offered by Google to make sure that you convert as many of your visitors to customers.

You can also try a free advert exchange site such as advert-exchange.com

PPC is a great way of getting traffic to your website quickly. But take some time to learn how to use it effectively or you could soon run up a large bill
