What is the best way to become an internet marketer?

Are there any tips like 50 ways to become a top marketer etc that are really helpful to someone new to this market? Is there any way to determine which products are any good. Any advice on the right ‘Guru’ to follow? How safe is it in being in Internet Marketing and not getting ripped off?. Any basic advice needed. Thanks

Hi Tony!

First, the potential to be ripped of is proportional to your desire of making money as fast and effortless as possible. Many people buy product after product or fall into scam after scam, and end up broke and burnt out.
It seems, that SOME people come very fast to good profits, but at what I have seen now, there is mostly a story behind that.

Now to the best way...

The best way lies in yourself. Not in the different possibilities to earn money. There are a lot of different ways of earning money online, and with each one there are people that make a fortune with that.

I would say, two of the best ways to start are Affiliate Marketing and Blogging (where you can get your revenue also from affiliate products).
Affiliate Marketing, because you don't need to have an own product, you don't need to handle payments from customers and you don't have to write salesletters. (Did I forget something?)
Blogging because it's easier than creating a website.

Hi there Tony!

You know, this is something that seems to be the burning question of almost all newbies that come online. Why? It's the American dream that's why!
So welcome to the ever growing mass of those of us that are making the exodus from our brick and mortar jobs to our WAH dreams.

With that said, I totally agree with the blogging and affiliate marketing being a great place to start. However, let me try and clarify a couple of things here.
Have you figured out what you want to focus on?
Have you any area of expertise? Is there somethings that you feel more comfortable promoting than not? I mean if you are great with dog whispering but not good with how to build a website, you need to be honest about that. If you want to take on a new niche (area of focus) be willing to do the online leg work to learn all you can, get the best of the best and all that jazz.

What do you bring to the table to start with? Do you have any website already?
Are you familiar with what it takes to be a successful business blogger?
Do you know what that means?
Have you signed up for many different affiliate programs and found half a dozen that works with your area of focus?
Do you know how to properly optimize? Because if you don't you can have the most gorgeous site in the world, the most amazing product on the planet, and no sales. So traffic is key to profits and growth.

*Do you have a plan for your SEO?
*How about your professional not random backlinking to help raise your Search Engine popularity and visibility?
*Will you or won't you choose to use Adsense, Yahoo ads, Alternative URL, or other 'ad' programs for a revenue avenue? See start from the plans at the beginning BEFORE you start buying up things or you will feel scammed. Believe me, there is a bazillion things out there and sorting through the sea of white papers and flashy sales pages can make a grown man cry.

Now here's a question for you if you don't mind. I am writing a series of articles for the traditional network marketer wanting to become an Inter-Network Marketer. What I would like to know from you and from anyone else on this forum that would like to give their 2 cents is this:

*What do YOU feel you need to know to feel like you have 2 solid feet on the ground of internet marketing and the marriage of offline and online.
*How comfortable do you feel with all the new technologies and how to use them?
*What do you feel are your top 5 concerns in terms of using the technologies available to succeed?
*What do you feel YOU need to understand more of to better succeed online?

If you can answer those, I might be able to give some more suggestions of what to do, where to go, what to steer clear of, and how to feel like more of a success by cutting your learning curve instead of reinventing the wheel or buying thousands of dollars of products that just take up your hard drive space instead of being a tool you will use.

You need to build yourself a reputation and become an authority on a niche of your choice or have an interest it to make money. Funnily enough you are off to a great start by posting in forums. Forums are a good way to build your reputation online. There is something for product info, that will help you make an informed decision about products, e-books, courses etc: Ratinghub is a hundred percent real user based site that reviews IM products. Every product is rated by end users, (bit like Amazon). The hub sends out newsletters for the latest batch of products reviewed so you are always up to date. It’s a real help if you want an opinion on a product or course in Internet marketing. Also, as you are doing already, join a lot of forums and start to ask and answer questions and after a while people will start to recognize you and trust you. This is also a good way to build an opt-in list that you can send offers to. But of course you have to have something to offer first!

You should also start a blog and post to it daily. Blogs are an excellent way to communicate with your customers and answer their questions. Another way is to write articles on your niche and submit them to directories with a link back to your site.

Hi,
I've gone through one of Liz Tomey's courses and was very happy with what I learned. David Vallieres, Willie Crawford, and John Reese are several marketers that I've learned a lot from and would recommend getting on their lists.

Whatever you do decide on a "business plan" and stick with it. From watching others struggle with internet marketing and doing it myself I think the biggest reason for failure is not focusing on one thing. When you've done something
once and have a steady ongoing stream of income you'll be able to duplicate it again and again. But you'll only be able to do that through trial and error and working until you have a system set up the first time.
