Your Blog Earnings? -
20-07-2008, 07:08 PM
hi,
I'd like to know how many of them actually make money out of blogging and what was your first online income through blogging. There are lot of people who don't believe on making money by blogging. Ok I'll start with me first... My first earning was through Google Adsense $100... What's yours? |

Can you define 'make money from blogging'? Some think posting on a forum is blogging - I've been doing that for eight years and, yes, I've made money from it.

"the blogsphere is pretty much saturated"
Sorry but I just don't agree there. I've started blogs as SEO tools to draw in traffic in the past 18 months and had good success. My sister, and several other people I know have also started blogs recently (within the past year) and seen decent amounts of traffic. It really depends on what your purpose for blogging is, and how you intend to earn from it. If your business plan is simply to blog in order to sell advertising space on the blog itself then you need massive traffic, and a suitable niche in order to make it work. You'll also need to write lots of good, unique content (but that kinda goes without saying). If however you're blogging to attract customers to your existing business, or to funnel traffic at another site, you don't necessarily need hundreds of thousands of clicks each month to make a profit. My network marketing blog only gets a few visitors eaech day, but has brought in several hundred leads and probably earned me a few thousand over the past couple of years. My games blog however, which I no longer run, used to get over 80,000 uniques per month and rarely generated more than £50 - £60 per month through advertising revenue. Like any business venture, you'll get out what you put in, but you also need to plan and do it correctly. I listened to a great podcast interview with a blogger in Australia recently who started a car blog as a hobby in his spare time. That was in early 2006. By the end of last year he was generating over $20,000 (USD) each month in revenue and getting Aston Martins and Lambos to review! You can download the podcast at http://tinyurl.com/5ezhhv So like I said, it depends on what you want from a blog, and what you're prepared to put in, but there is still lots of money to be made through blogging IMHO and they are also a great SEO tool. Good post Bill.
Maybe I should have made it a bit clearer: 'the blogshore is pretty much saturated in all the main topic area'. This means if you want to start a financial blog then there's already a lot of competition. I agree though that the leads can be worth far more than the income generated from the adverts. |
