we are aware of the .co.uk in SERPS, but unfortunately we have no access to the server at present (the only thing i can access is the blog control panel), the ranking hasn't taken long to build up on the .co.uk and i enjoy a good challenge so its time to do it all again with the .com!
fisicx, appreciate your advice though mate - in your opinion would it be worth placing more links on the blog on the .co.uk site or should i just set it to re-direct to the new .com site? pickaweb.co.uk, pleased to meet you |

I'd leave the .co.uk site exactly as it is - with the homepage in place. That way you will keep your ranking.
Leave the blog as it is (unless you are transferring it to the new domain). Check with you host about re-directs. Most will allow you to modify the .htaccess and set up 301 and 302 redirects. There are any number of tutorial's on how to do this (along with some useful alternatives). Here's one I chose at random: http://www.stonetemple.com/articles/301-redirects.shtml If is all goes pear shaped just add this line to the head of each page on the old site: <meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" content="0; url=http://www.newdomain.com/page.html"> Inserting the URL of the new page as required. |
