Hi...It seems i have the first question...

When someone decides to buy one of my services, they are required to sign documents and contracts. Do i have to take these documents anywhere for them to be approved and stamped? I have heared of something like this...but im not sure.

Awaiting reply...

Most Agreements and Contracts are just signed by both parties with nothing further needing to be done with them at all.

The main exceptions are mortgages and charges or anything on which stamp duty is payable

Ian is correct but I would also add that some commercial contracts may need to be 'witnessed', especially if the contract will be in a form of a deed. A deed will need to be formed where the agreement will lack in 'legal consideration' and that is anything of sufficient value i.e. advance payment, deposit, etc which will bind both parties rather than just being a mere exchange of promise, which can be problematic to enforce.

It depends very much on the nature of your work and what kind of agreement you are seeking.

Ian's point is a statutory one where transfer of ownership of a property must be in the form of a deed.

If you need a specific agreement or further advice I can be contacted at legal.services@handsongroup.co.uk

There is no need to do anything with agreements of this type other than get them signed and you can then just file them away.

Companies House charge £250 as a late filing penalty. Is this a legal 'fine' or is it a penalty charge? If it is a penalty cherge, then it is obviously a lot more than the physical cost of getting me to pay, so does it then become a 'punitive charge' and if so, not legally enforceable?

I am guessing that because it's 'the government' it is all legitimate, but it is worth asking as I am sure other government organisations like the Inland Revenue and Customs & Excise have similar charges.
