Car Query -

Hoping someone can help us.
We bought a used car in Sept 2005 from an Approved Nissan dealer. Just this week we had a letter from the DVLA asking us to verify the chassis and VIN number on the car against our V5 document. When checked they were different.
It turns out the supplying had two similar cars in stock at the same time and basically the documentation and registration of the cars have been switched.
This has left us with a car 6 months older than we had bought and also a stamped up service history book for a car with a different registration number.
I'm also concerned that the regiistration that will become ours may have outstanding finance on it.(our car was purchased for cash).
The problem is the dealer that supplied the car has changed hands. Still a nissan dealer and in the same locationare they liable for this or not? Do Nissan have any liablity.
Really not sure where we stand.
