Dealing with Telephone Companies

My problem is that I was obliged to avail of Satellite telephone Communication.Being aware this could be expensive I enquired as to the per minute cost.Once before initiating the calls and again after I had by then made 13 calls. The first time I was told it would depend on the network involved but that it would be premium rate and between I and 2 euros a minute. The second time I was given a price of 2.21 euros a minute.
I made my calls and was eventually called by a nice Risk Manager to say I there was unusual activity on my line and was I aware of it.The calls had amounted to 1000 euros and the rates I had been given were clearly wrong.
Followig the Risk Manager's advice I asked to speak to the Line Manager to explain the situation and of course to establish the true cost per minute.
Then I was told it was between 5 and 7 euros a minute.
I wanted to know would they accept some responsibility for the misinformation and also emphasised my predicament in that my calls were made subsequent to a death in the family(funeral arrangements when the next of kin was the other side of the world)
I began to realise that this cut no ice and that it was all my fault as I had made the calls.
A few calls to Citizen's Advice and other bodies later suggests I must wait for the (horrendous) bill before making a formal written complaint.
Anyone with an idea if I have a decent prospect or an alternative route? Small Claims court? Refusal To pay the excess? Will they just cut me off?
