Employee salary discrepancies (Equal Pay Act?) - Urgent Help Requested.
30-01-2008, 12:19 PM

Hi,

Wondering as to the legality of employing 5 different people to do the same job on 5 different salaries.

I'm aware that the Equal pay act disqualifies this practice if any of the team are of different race or gender, but am unsure how this affects 5 white guys.

Head office(large national firm) is attempting to abolish payscales for my teams, and I will be left with 5 guys on different wages with no real way of correcting this in the short/medium or even long term; and basically I'm looking for some legal strength to add to my argument.

Does the fact that this practice would inhibit(prohibit?) future staff employment of females or any ethnic minorties give me any ground for negotiation?

Please Help, Urgent....
