Is this legal? - 13-07-2008, 07:39 PM

Hey ppl,

Today i was rung by a company i had previously applied for a job with but wasn't picked. I was asked to come in and work. The only contract i have signed is below for reference, this was filled in prior to the interview, was on the application form, for the job (conducted a few months ago now):

Terms & Conditions
"Working hours will be as required. Buggy Drivers are to meet their own expenses for transportation, petrol, etc.
Other expenses, I.e. Telephone calls, etc. or any monies spent on behalf of Communicor or its Clients, will be reimbursed."
"DURATION FOR WORK AT FARNBOROUGH AIR SHOW 2008
Sunday 13th - Friday 18th July 2008
Variable over and above these dates according to individual circumstances"
Buggy drivers should be available for a half day briefing on Saturday 12th July and able to work every day (including weekends).

I have read Communicor's Terms and Conditions and I will make myself available to Communicor for the agreed period.

anyway my question is this, if I were to not want to work the rest of the week, would the company be under any legal obligation to pay me for todays work? thanks!

The contract is for the whole week so if you fail to turn up for work then they claim breach of contract and not pay you or pay you a reduced amount to compensate for their loss of service.

Why would you not want to work for the whole week?
