overpaid by cashier

if a bank/building society cashier overpays me £10, by mistake, when i make a withdrawal, am I required to pay it back if they have not realized at the time and i have left the bank? i intend to pay it back, but what would have happened if i did not? legal proceedings? interest charges on an amount that i did not request?

I guess you should - why not wait until they contact you?

They won't contact you as they cannot prove where their "missing" £10 went... They will know they are £10 missing but not which customer had it
