Hi There,

It looks like I'm going to be taking a company to court and I would really like to find out what court cases this company has previously been involved in. I have been informed that this is case of public record but where do I go to access this information?

http://www.registry-trust.org.uk holds details on behalf of the court service of all judgments. However if the company has settled their litigation without the need for a judgment those details do not form part of the public record. Not too clear on how the information will help you, except of course if the judgments are recent you may be adding your name to a long line of creditors and not receive your money if you are successful.

I have ran into a problem. That search only shows CCJ's against them. I want to find out if previous companies they have taken to court have won or lost so this wont result in a CCJ for the company in question.

I have been trying to get through to the local court to their registered offices to see if they have any record of court papers being filed but am having no joy. Can anyone help me?

There is no public record of cases being brought that do not result in a judgment. Occasionally you may strike lucky by searching on google the company name prefixed by -v- and this brings up copies of old court lists. There is not a record of these cases as they are simply disputes until a judgment is recorded.
