If someone dies without leaving a will, other than funeral expenses, what other costs are involved please?

Do these come out of the estate of the deceased?
or
Do the surviving relatives have to meet them?

Can anyone give me a rough estimate of these costs please?
Property with about 30,000 equity on, and approx 40,000 mortgage left to pay. Mortgage is repayment.
Savings account with about 1500.00 in
Current account with about 1800.00 in
