wrongly advertised - 02-09-2007, 07:28 PM

A magazine recently borrowed on of our TV's and then went on to label it as belonging to our competitor. We are now being met with a barrage of queries from our customers as we claimed we had sole distribution of this TV (which we do have), yet they see it advertised as belonging to someone else. Where do we stand with the magazine?

Use their mistake as the PR opportunity it is, negotiate with them more good exposure for your company to put right their mistake and make it clear to them that they have damaged your reputation by this error.

Alternatively you can take legal advice on a claim against them for damage to your reputation but the advertising and putting right their error is more likely to benefit your business.
