Advice for upcoming job interview...
14-07-2007, 07:25 PM
  #1

Hi all,

Until recently, I worked for the largest Internet Service Provider in the UK as a Technical Product Manager. I had access to a team of over 50 Marketing people, and a vast budget!

I have applied for a position as a Product Manager at a new startup company, whose main product is a free piece of software that creates music playlists and recommends new music to purchase. The whole company has 50 staff, 4 of which work within the Marketing team, and we will inevitably have a much smaller budget to use.

I know I'm going to be asked how I will adapt to this change, and I'm asking for members of this forum to please provide me with any advice on how to answer this question in the interview, and if possible, to explain to me the main differences to be aware of when changing from a large to small marketing team (or indeed the company as a whole)

Many thanks to anyone who can provide information!

Its always easier to work in small teams, communication is easier, you also biuld closer relationships with the people you work with.
you could also point out that when you started at your current company, your team wasn't as big.

Hooohooho... The answer is already here... You know you have it, it is in you...
I guess my advice is to visualize yourself working with the team, over and over and over... The genius within you will show you...

Mark611 answered most of the great points.

Although this won't be relevant to an interview question, being in a smaller company can help you climb up the ladder much faster.
