Email Marketing - Any Experince? - 11-01-2007, 05:36 PM

Hi

I run a small business selling personalised photo albums, guest books and keepsakes for special occasions via our web site.

I am looking to start an email marketing campaign, at the moment just to keep in contact with customers that have bought from us in the past and to let them know of offers, new products etc on a regualr basis.

I'd be really grateful for any comments/advice etc.

Do not send to much email. Once a month is a lot, one time per three months is good with an extra mail during christmas etc.

Always have the ability for them to cancel subscription for your emails (very important).

Expect to get lots of mail from people wondering where you got their email adress from, and also expect to not be able to send your mail to everyone because of spam protection etc. Other than that, go ahead.

Thanks for the replies. To be honest I also think every month is too much and probably wouldn't use it to that extent.

I will only be emailing existing customers who have given there permission for me to do so whilst ordering on our web site, and those who sign up to receive email newsletters etc on the site and every email that is sent out will have an unsubscribe option within it.

Really, I see it as a quick and easy way of keepng in touch with existing customers as a means of notifying them of sales, offers, new products etc. I have a lot of repeat customers and so its just really to keep them informed. For example, this week a customer who bought an item from us last year as a gift, wanted to do the same again but couldn't remember the web site address. She did manage to find it using google but I think sending out fairly regular emails/newsletters would help to keep up our profile.

Hi,

With all due respect to my collegues here you need to email people often but only when you something useful to offer or say.

I have a service that will design a whole years emails for you to send to your clients. This is a geat method to keep your company name before them.

I will say NEVER BUY EMAIL LISTS.

If I can help futher let me know.

Ed
