I am seen your video and it doesn't really tell me anything and actually provides the worst way to view your site in Yahoo ala 2004 - there are better ways to do this.

And your title tag comment although valid was not relevant for that site as they were links from affiliates *sigh*

If you follow your own guidelines your site should be #1 for your keywords.
Your homepage has the title and main header: 'Search Engine Optimisation Nottingham'.

But your site is on page 3.

I also noticed that on Tuesday there were only 5 spots left on your seminar and these were reserved for UKBF members. How come there are now places for Teneric members?

Why do these companies promise page one on google etc, when their own sites are no where to be seen?

If it were that easy, then everybody would be number one... except of course they can't be ! Does anybody still believe that you can get a number one position that easily, it took me 2 years and i still have to work at it to keep it at that position!

Looking at the website through Google's point of view is nothing but taking care of some simple things. For eg. Search engine robots begins with the first line of code. It's all about your page titles, keywords, descriptions, headers, content, anchor text and internal linking and alt text. Hard links also help a lot in getting a good page rank. If you keep in mind all these stuff then everything is in place.

Getting to #1 on Google is a bit of a poisoned chalice at times. You have to think of it as a marketing exercise, after which it becomes very apparent that in order to achieve premium spots you're going to be competing with every small Tom, Dick and Harry, and the budgets of the major corporations as well.

The reality is that SEO requires input of time. Optimising your site so that it looks nice for Google will help you get listed properly, but it won't automatically push your listing up the table. If you have a large budget, you would pay somebody to spend all their time on the activities that do push you up the rankings, such as generating backlinks.
