how to promote my site

It is a really old topic in the forum I believe, however after reading so many relevant answers, I still cannot find the best way for my website, which has small product range and the target customers are kind of limited, only females at the moment.

We sells costume accessories and some other items. We are kind of small and seems cannot afford expensive advertising cost, so what channel shall we use? apart from the leaflet, any other ways that we can look into?

Have you considered having someone write your copy for your site and any printed materials?

I can recommend someone if you like, just pm me and I will send over some details. They can write copy to help you gain hits on your keywords and therefore more traffic to your site etc.

How about posting and promoting on relevant targetted forums, ones that have a lot of women or relate to jewellery for example, don't go in all sell sell sell straight away, build up a reputation and people will be interested in your site.

P.S. I hate the frames on your site, makes it look really old fashioned, sorry.

-Participate in Internet forums and add a selling link to your signature.
-Write articles about the area of your site and add them to free article directories. Link to your site from the article.
-Add your site in web directories
-Select a few nisch keywords and SEO your pages

why not have a male friendly link on the site that can help those with no clues find a gift for their loved ones.. ?

their a great way to get targeted people to your site

all you have to do is to spend a little time surfing other peoples sites to gain free traffic

their are hundreds and hundreds of exchanges out thier simply do a search for them on your favorite search engine

Ebay would work well for you.
Try selling some products on Ebay, and in your listing have a link back to your site. This will build your reputation, as well as spread the word about your site.

Just a word of caution... This is against eBay's terms and conditions - I know LOTS of people do it and they have to catch you first BUT it's still not technically allowed.

A lot of my clients who run their own website alongside ebay find it better to include their website and details in a packing slip posted with the item..

Is it against Ebay rules to display a link to your site? I thought it was ok?
I dont use ebay much, but last time I checked I could have sworn it was fine to link to your site for "more info"

Or, you can create an Ebay store, which your auctions will link to.
