My First Flyer Design -
18-01-2008, 06:14 PM
Hello everyone,
I am new here and just wanted some help with a flyer design I have made. I work for a polystyrene company in the South of England and as I am quite techy they asked me to design a flyer to promote our business to Exhibition and shop display designers. The flyer I have attached will have all the business contact details and explanations printed on the back, the front is purely for examples of our work to get the potential customers attention. I would appreciate it if you could give me your opinion on the design of this flyer and any pointers that would help me acheive my gold of a simple yet effective design. Thank you. Dan. ![]() |

Hi Dan
Well, firstly, the blue won't print as you see it here! The design overall is quite incoherent - a potential customer's eyes will wander all over the place and not really 'get it'. I'd suggest just having one or two large but interesting shapes - and make it clear that it's polystyrene. Why say "we supply..."? Make that much smaller or have it on the back. Your sales message should really be what you can do for your customer (why they need your services/product) not what you are as a company. The font, whilst reasonably bold is a little untidy. I can see what you're trying to acheive but it doesn't look professoinally designed. What's 'Pasture Free Mooo"? It'll only confuse people. Hope this helps a little, Mark ![]() Promocialise! your business on UK Business Labs Forum |

Hi Dan,
Agree with Eagle and fisicx. Benefits benefits benefits! I'm not sure what the name of your company is either. Is it Pasture Free Mooo? Does your company have a logo or any other marketing materials? The trick is to keep your message consistent. Always think about your branding - and always think about what the benefit to the customer is.As Eagle said, you don't need to have every image on the front. SIMPLE is better - keep the number of words to a minimum and make it impactful. Think about what your call for action will be. (How do they contact you? Who do they contact?) Good Luck! ![]() |

Hi,
definitely agree with the other guys. You need to think about your visual hierachy. Rank what's most important in other words what you want your reader to see first. Use of space is key dont try to cram too much in you'll lose what your trying to communicate and the message will become confused. A few basic things that might help, think about colour, space, typefaces go by the rule two typefaces max 3 if really necessary and remember your key information, if its not necessary don't use it, it'll just add to more confusion, make sure what you include is legible. Also the size of your flyer will determine your format and how you lay things out. Just a few points that you may already know but i hope its of some help, good luck. |
