Questions to ask a freelance graphic designer

I am in the process of searching for a graphic designer to do work for us on behalf of our client base. We have searched and found a few that look suitable and adaptable in thier designs and qualified.
We are holding informal chats with the designers on a one to one basis just to gauge them as a potential team member soon.
Any ideas on what questions to ask them apart from the standard
* Whre do you get inspiration from
* what was your contribution to a projuct
* budgets, times etc

any ideas would be great!

Can I contact some of your previous clients? (for recommendation purposes)

Can I view some of your work?

Payment terms? Ideally payment on completion or 50% deposit maximum.

If logo design is involved...

Ensure that on completion of your logo that you will be assigned copyright in writing, if they don't do this then you do not own the logo, they do!

Ensure the logo is vector based.

To be honest, if the price is right, if they have a good portfolio which means they obviously have the skills, if they are not too busy to turn projects round in a reasonable time frame then that is about it really.
