Speak at conferences - 03-06-2004, 11:07 AM

I know this is not everyone's cup of tea, but if you come across as an industry expert in your field when speaking at your industry's conference you will earn trust and people will want to do business with you.

You might also try to be a speaker at training seminars - these have less people.

It's hard to get up in front of strangers - but remember - they want to hear from you, they are not there to give you a hard time

There is a great way around this! Be an expert in your field in print! Whenever magazines in your industry are running a feature relevant to your products/services, offer to provide a quote. Maybe you can't handle standing up in front of 40+ strangers but a phone call/email should be easy enough!

Whenever you send out press releases add a comment from yourself so your name regularly appears in the press. Become an authority in your field and people will quickly to come to you for your opinion. Take Richard Branson (please... - sorry, couldn't resist that one... )
