Suspect Link Exchanges - 18-11-2004, 12:14 PM

Hi,

I get requests for link exchanges which may be a little suspect!
Their Home page does not appear to have a link to their links page and also their links page is on a different domain!

The latest request was from http://www.price-web.com and their links page is at http://linksmanager.com/asyarief/.

Should I be wary of these requests?

Cheers,
Nigel

links manager is all automated - I would steer clear from those and only link reciprocal at relevant sites. Although most links count you dont want to be burried on page 5

One little trick that I read about on an SEO forum was that some sites seem to have a thriving links section but a note in robots.txt will exclude the spiders from seeing it so whilst they pretend to be reciprocating, effectively they are inbound links only

Thanks for your comments.
I am being more selective with my link exchanges now...and that's a very good point you made Ian.

Cheers,
Nigel

Wasn't aware that this could be tinkered with, I guess I just hadn't thought about it.

I try to avoid banner farms / link farms where possible, as your audience is not targeted, and in the past have had more spam emails than normal as a result of this.
